This national and international heritage is indeed threatened with extinction under the effects of population growth and human actions on their habitat. The project supports elephant range communities in the development of elephant-centered community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) systems, which contribute to the protection and regeneration of natural habitats including people and animals. depend for their survival. It is also working alongside the Malian state to strengthen legislation in favor of elephants, including the creation of a new biosphere reserve encompassing the entire elephant range, and capacity development in anti-poaching matter. The long-term vision of the project is to achieve integrated protection of biodiversity and ecosystems, as well as a peaceful and mutually beneficial coexistence between humans and elephants, through the implementation of economic systems and endogenous local governance reinforced by effective legislation, which serves the interests of the populations and automatically supports the conservation of elephants.
